Rotary Summerdrags is New Zealand's only event dedicated solely to old school Mazdas and rotary powered cars.

The event has been running since 2002 and brings together rotary owners and enthusiasts from all over the country while attracting some of the most modified and quickest rotaries in the scene.

The event is held at Fram Autolite Dragway, Meremere and racing is run in a number of different classes throughout the day with racers testing their driving skills and engine performance to take top class honours or just beat their mates in the grudge race, top this off with burnouts and a wet t shirt comp and it's an all round entertaining day.

While drag racing, grudge racing & Pro Imports are the highlight for most, the festival atmosphere of hundreds of old school cars parked up in the pits provides a whole lot of automotive eye candy, with predominantly early 4 and 6 cylinder Japanese cars from the 1960’s, 1970’s and 1980’s as well as the vast selection of Rotary powered vehicles gathered in one place at the same time.
Everything from the highly modified to the extremely original classic.

You really do have to admire the time, attention to detail and money that goes into these vehicles along with everyone's individual touches and modifications.
